Medicare Part A is hospital insurance. This is the insurance that covers the cost of a hospital stay, or the cost of a skilled nursing facility. It also covers hospice and some home health care.
Medicare Part B is medical insurance. It covers the cost of medically necessary and preventative health care, including outpatient care like doctor visits, screenings and tests, shots, physical therapy, some counseling and some durable medical equipment.
Medicare Parts A and B are federally funded health insurance plans that are available to people who are disabled, and/or people who are 65 and older, and/or people who are experiencing end stage renal disease. Children and people with disabilities can be covered by this plan.
To access CareOregon Advantage, you have to sign up for Oregon Health Plan Medicaid benefits. That means you have to apply for and be accepted into Oregon Health Plan (OHP) before you can begin receiving CareOregon Advantage health insurance. It doesn’t matter if you have Medicaid through Columbia Pacific CCO, Jackson County CCO, or another provider; you are eligible to sign up for CareOregon Advantage if you have OHP benefits.
