2020 Part B Diabetic Test Supplies Cost Sharing Changes

Dec 18, 2019, 08:00 AM

On January 1, 2020, diabetic test supplies – including, meters, test strips, calibration solution, lancets, and lancet devices – will not be fully covered by CareOregon Advantage.

  • The majority of our members have Medicaid with Health Share of Oregon, Jackson Care Connect or Columbia Pacific CCO. These members will have their benefits coordinated at the pharmacy or by the DME vendor for them. They will incur no cost.
  • If the member has a different Medicaid plan, additional steps need to be done in order for the member to pay no cost:
  1. Ask the pharmacy to coordinate the payment with the Medicaid plan.
  2. Or, they will need to pay 20% of the cost and request reimbursement from the Medicaid plan.
  • If the member does not have Medicaid, they are responsible for 20% of the cost.

These changes do not affect insulin or supplies used to administer insulin. Normal cost sharing under Medicare Part D still apply.

View the letter that Members who did not have Medicaid with HSO, JCC or CPCCO, received informing them of the change.
