Changes to COA Point of Service Benefit
What is changing?
As part of our efforts to ensure sustainability and high-quality care for CareOregon Advantage (COA) members, we have made an important change to a member benefit.
Effective January 1, 2026, COA members are no longer able to use the $1,000 Point of Service (POS) benefit to use for services like out-of-network care provided by non-contracted provider groups. Members can continue to see in-network providers and will not be charged for covered services.
How does this impact providers?
In order to be reimbursed for services performed on or after January 1, 2026, non-contracted providers will need to submit a prior authorization for specialty services and follow authorization and billing guidance.
How can providers support members?
In an effort to ensure our provider network is informed of changes, we want you to be aware of this benefit change for members. Please advise members to seek care with contracted providers in the COA network.
