Frequently Asked CareCard Questions - For Members
What is the CareOregon Advantage CareCard?
The CareOregon Advantage CareCard comes pre-loaded with funds, and has separate categories of funds, called “wallets”:
- In 2024, you get $1,620 ($405 per quarter) to spend on health items and healthy foods. You also get $1,500 to spend on dental services that Medicare and Medicaid don’t cover or only partly cover, like crowns, root canals, nightguards and more.
In 2025, you get $1,378 ($344.50 per quarter) to spend on health items, healthy foods and household utilities.
The quarterly amount will be automatically loaded on to your card for you to buy health items and healthy foods at stores like Albertsons, Walgreens, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Farmbox Rx and more.
- Rewards for completing healthy activities for eligible members: You could earn extra funds added to your card each year, just for making time for your health. Please note: Some screenings or activities are only available to members who meet program conditions or when recommended by a provider.
How do I get a CareOregon Advantage CareCard?
Your CareCard will be mailed to you after you sign up for CareOregon Advantage Plus. We will only send you a new card if you report losing it or if we make a change to the program.
Where can I use it?
In 2024, your card will have $405 loaded onto it at the beginning of each quarter, to be spent on health items like cold and flu care, and healthy food items like meat and produce. The CareCard can be used at many pharmacies and retail stores including Rite Aid, Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar General, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons and more. Your card will come preloaded with $1,500 to spend on dental services with your dental provider. This $1,500 is good for the entire year and can be used to cover services that Medicaid and Medicare don’t cover or only partly cover, like dentures, crowns, root canals and more.
In 2025, your CareCard will have $344.50 loaded onto it at the beginning of each quarter. While you can spend this money on health items and healthy food items, you can also use it to pay household utilities. It can be used in the same pharmacies and retail stores listed above. The $1500 toward dental services has been discontinued for 2025.
To find a full list of participating retailers, go to mybenefitscenter.com and log in with your CareCard number. You also can find a list of participating retailers using the OTC Network mobile app. Download the app at Google Play or the iTunes App Store by searching for “OTC Network.”

Can I save the amount from month to month?
At the beginning of each calendar quarter (January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1), money for health items and healthy foods will automatically be added to the same card. Any money left on your card at end of each quarter will expire. It does not carry over to the next quarter. Use the money on the card before the end of each quarter to get the full amount. Go to mybenefitscenter.com for more details.
The $1,500 for dental services in 2024 will be available to you for the entire year until you use it up.
How do I use it?
When the card comes in the mail, activate it by calling 833-684-8472 or by visiting mybenefitscenter.com. Then, you can go shopping at any participating retailer. Make sure you present your CareCard when you bring your covered items to the checkout counter. Whatever amount you spend on eligible items will be deducted from your card, up to the allowable amount. Any remaining balance will be listed at the bottom of your receipt and can be used up until the next benefit period starts.
Important: You must choose "credit" when the card reader asks how you want to use your card. If you choose "debit," the card will not work!
The CareCard "OTC Network" mobile app
An app for both Android and iPhone
makes using this benefit a whole lot easier. You can check your account balance, scan barcodes at retail locations, search the list of eligible items and more. Download the app at Google Play or the iTunes App Store by searching "OTC Network."
What is covered?
Your CareCard covers over 90,000 eligible health items and eligible healthy foods. A searchable list of health items that are covered can be found by following these steps:
- Go to mybenefitscenter.com
- Enter the 19-digit number from the front of your card
- Once you are inside the member-specific area, click on "Product" in the upper blue bar. This will bring up the Eligible Products searchable list.
- From the "Retailers" drop down menu on the right, choose the store where you want to search (like Walgreens, Walmart or Rite Aid).
If you haven't registered your CareCard yet, you can do it at mybenefitscenter.com. If you have any questions, or cannot access a computer, please call Customer Service during business hours and we can help you.
Please note: Some items may be covered under your Medicare or Medicaid coverage. When an item is covered by Medicare or Medicaid, you should not use your CareCard to buy it, because it is covered by other coverage and is not part of your supplemental CareCard benefit. For example, gauze may be covered under Part D when it is being used, by prescription, to inject insulin. Or over-the-counter loratadine, by prescription, may be covered by Medicaid. In these situations, you should present your prescription and your CareOregon Advantage Member ID card at the pharmacy counter.
